Finance provides staff support to internal departments, assures legal and financial accountability to the public, and provides superior customer service to both internal and external clientele. Finance maintains a standard of excellence in financial reporting and oversight, and administers all of the City funds and accounts, as well as the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Finance directs the City’s finance functions including; accounts payable; payroll; accounts receivable; cash receipts; bank statement reconciliation; business licenses; collection of Transient Occupancy Tax; operating budget; preparation of financial reports; preparation of monthly Treasurer’s Report; and analysis of fiscal impact.

The Budget is available at the following locations:

Capitola City Hall Reception Area, 420 Capitola Avenue, between the hours of 8-12 and 1-5 Monday through Friday
Capitola Branch Library, 2005 Wharf Road. Check with Library for hours.

A delay in processing may occur if an incomplete application is received or remittance is not included with application.
If you are no longer doing business in Capitola, please notify us by letter.

RENEWAL APPLICATION AND PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED BEFORE OR POSTMARKED BY JANUARY 15, 2012 (Council Resolution #3532). RENEWALS RECEIVED OR POSTMARKED AFTER JANUARY 15, 2012 WILL BE ASSESSED A $35.00 ADMINISTRATIVE FEE, PLUS A 10% PENALTY OF THE TAX DUE FOR EACH MONTH OR PARTIAL MONTH THE TAX IS LATE. (Council Resolution #3532)

NOTE: 10% PENALTY CONTINUES TO ACCUMULATE EACH MONTH OR PARTIAL MONTH THE TAX IS LATE UNTIL THE TAX IS PAID IN FULL (Council Resolution # 3532)
